Can Anybody Explain Why A Flight From Europe To The Usa Takes About 120 Minutes More Than From Usa To Europe?

The air current may play a role as was mentioned by the others, but I also believe that different routes that the planes follow may play a role.
See, all airlines have their own specific route, specific height that they fly so as to avoid mid air collisions.
So the planes heading to USA are following a different predetermined route, that takes them a few extra hours for the above mentioned reasons.

  1. The_last says:

Because you are flying against the air current.

  2. Andy D says:

When flying westbound, you’ll be going with the jet stream…Flight time may also be affected by the route.

  3. Juno says:

Because your flying against the wind current, where the wind kind of “pushes back” the plane.

  4. jerrry. says:

    you’re going into a headwind
