There are very few cruise ships that transit the Atlantic. There is one from NY to England, but it costs cruise ship prices (which are pretty expensive).
You can look into working your way over on a freighter, but that often requires some union experience before you end up on a trip (with stops in Pago Pago and Africa and Diego Garcia probably before you get to Europe
Seriously–you can get a very very cheap fare to Europe–often cheaper than flying across the US.

I’m flying London-Dublin and Cork-Munich on Aer Lingus. According to their website, you are only allowed one piece of cabin baggage (http://www.aerlingus.com/cgi-bin/obe…Category=3#all)
Does this include purses? I am assuming that I can bring a small knapsack as my “carry on” and then a purse as my personal item?
If anyone can provide advice as to past experiences it would be greatly appreciated. They note on their website that “Cabin baggage limits are strictly enforced” and I would like to avoid repacking in the middle of the airport.
